Job Title: Education Officer
Job Location: Yola, Adamawa
Role Purpose
The purpose of this role is to support the implementation of the Beiersdorf education /Protection project activities in Adamawa state in North Eastern Nigeria.
Dimensions of the Role
Communicates with the Project Coordinator in-charge of Beiersdorf project. Supports the strengthening and training of the school-based management committees, the training of teachers working with local partners and the distribution of materials as well as follow ups and monitoring of project activities.
AccountabilitiesProgramme development & Quality Management:
Responsible for the direct implementation of the project activities in the selected local government areas (LGAs).
Facilitation SBMC training and support for the strengthening of the SBMCs.
Support and facilitate the training of teachers in pedagogy and in service.
Work closely with the local partners to mobilize the communities in which the project will be implemented.
Provide weekly and monthly project reports to the project coordinator.
Raise purchase requests for the project and make follow ups with the logistics team to ensure timely procurement of the project materials.
Contribute to resource mobilization through updating Plan International through the Project Coordinator by providing updates on the needs in the communities, participate in needs assessment and provide lessons learnt and feedback to improve project quality and implementation.
Support the preparation of reports for domestic consumption.
Provide timely responses concerning queries linked with relevant projects or programmes.
Report to the Beiersdorf project coordinator.
Provide support to Plan International Nigeria’s programme delivery and resource mobilization.
Work with other members of the programme units to ensure effective and efficient programme delivery.
Perform any other project related duties as specified by the supervisor.
Ensures that Plan International’s global policies for Child Protection (CPP) and Gender Equality and Inclusion (GEI) are fully embedded in accordance with the principles and requirements of the policy including relevant Implementation Standards and Guidelines as applicable to their area of responsibility. This includes, but is not limited to, ensuring staff and associates are aware of and understand their responsibilities under these policies and Plan International’s Code of Conduct (CoC), their relevance to their area of work, and that concerns are reported and managed in accordance with the appropriate procedures.

Supports the orientation, on-going development/training and builds capacity of colleagues and local partner staff when required.
Learning and knowledge management:
Share relevant information within the Beiersdorf project team establishing and supporting the proper documentation of activities
Participates in global/regional projects/networks as requested.

Ability to manage competing priorities and expectations from internal and external stakeholders and remain calm and resilient in the face of pressure.
Manage multiple priorities and work with distant colleagues to form a virtual efficient administration team;
Use Plan procedures to settle conflicts among colleagues/stakeholders;
Resolve problems that are not covered by established process.
Analyze possible causes of problems and suggest solutions to get them resolved.
Refer, whenever necessary, the case to supervisor for consideration
Technical Expertise, Skills and KnowledgeQualifications and Experience:
University degree or equivalent in Education, Social Science, Social Work, Psychology, or related fields
Minimum of 3 years relevant working experience Education in Emergencies
Experience working in emergency settings
Good knowledge and understanding of DO NO HARM principles and established international child protection standards (especially UNCRC)
Experience with participatory approaches to education, emergency preparedness, crisis/emergency relief management, or other related area.
Experience working with IDPs, refugees and other vulnerable populations (ideal)
Previous experience directly providing services to children at risk and victims of abuse, exploitation and violence

Languages: Excellent command of English language and Hausa

Physical Environment:
Typical office environment with extensive travels to coordinate and lead programme activities
Level of contact with children:
High contact- the job responsibilities of this position require the post holder to have very frequent contact with children. It is expected that children shall be protected at all times.
